Sing a New Song

“Sing sing together, merrily merrily sing! Sing sing together, merrily merrily sing! Sing sing sing sing~~~!”

Culture Cup, a chorus contest between all departments in NCCU, is one of the most popular events that nearly every student will join. My department, Journalism, is one of the traditional winners of this contest, and it also means a lot to our seniors. Therefore, we had some pressure from them.

At first, I didn't like this contest so much. Because I thought it took me too much time to practice (we even practiced eleven hours a week the most), and the leaders were all strict. However, as time went by, I could feel that I really enjoyed and cherished the time we practiced and the love from the leaders.

At the end, Journalism won three prizes, the second prize, best conductor, and best pianists. Though we achieved the biggest triumph in the past couple of years, I realized that the greatest joy wasn't winning the prizes but sharing the same feelings for Culture Cup.

  1. Hello, my company. The contest is so important for us that we practiced hard and took it very seriously to show the best of us on the stage. Maybe the process of practice was tedious and boring, but everything we did was to send only one voice representing only our Journalism. I think that you have learned a lot from this activity as I have. The prize we won is significant. Nevertheless, what's most essential is the joy、tears and spirit we shared together. Hope that we can pass down the tradition and spirit to our junior in our department. :^)

  2. Oh my god! Your department was so awesome that you won so many prizes! I love this contest, too. Because of this event, our department got closer and closer. I especially like the atmosphere while we were waiting for getting on stage. Everyone was nervous, but still encouraged each other! Your department totally worth the prize because you practiced so hard! I believe, next year, when we become leaders, we will have more feelings about this incredible competetion.

  3. Evelyn, I was there while your department performing! “Harmony” was the first word came up in my mind when I watched your performance. The song was pleasant and I could felt that you guys really had to spend a lot of time practicing to having such a great performance. It’s not fancy but I can felt great joy inside. I think all of your efforts paid off! Hope we can always recall these great moments when some day we feel frustrated because of busy, and remind ourselves. It somehow WILL pay off!
